Community members near Evelyn Hanshaw Middle School came together to celebrate the installation of sidewalks near the campus.
For 33 years, they said students have walked through dust and mud to get to school, depending on the time of year.
The community is grateful for Stanislaus County's support in constructing the safer surfaces for families to get to and from class.
They celebrated with folklórico dancers, food, music, and conversations with county supervisors, past and present MCS board trustees, and members of the first graduating class at Hanshaw Middle School. Even the construction workers that installed the sidewalks showed up to mark the joyous occasion.
